Every once in a while you’re in the exact right place at the exact right moment. On a very recent hike from the Fern Lake trailhead to Bear lake in RMNP, magic happened.
The first third of the hike was shrouded in a cloud and mystical and eerily beautiful at 6:30 in the morning. We got to Fern Lake but couldn’t see it. At Odessa Lake, however, the sun came through and heaven appeared. For the next 4 miles, real life felt and looked like a painting.
Over the next four mile descent into Bear Lake, we were treated to mostly glorious sunshine and aspens in their full autumn splendor.
I’ve presented these photos in chronological order.
Get out there and hike. I feel very lucky to have experienced what I saw.
